SoftWave is a form of shockwave therapy that sends acoustic waves into injured tissue to stimulate the body's own repair response, including increased blood flow to the area. At our New Rochelle office, it's an option for patients from across Westchester with knee, shoulder, tendon and joint pain that hasn't responded to rest or standard care. It's non-invasive: nothing injected, nothing removed, no downtime.

The acoustic pulses trigger a natural repair signal called mechanotransduction — mechanical energy that cells convert into a biochemical healing response. Sessions are quick, performed right in our New Rochelle office, and are often combined with chiropractic care for stubborn joint, tendon, and soft-tissue problems.

    SoftWave vs. Traditional Shockwave Therapy

SoftWave TRT is a form of unfocused extracorporeal shockwave therapy (ESWT), delivered in our office with the OrthoGold 100 device. Focused shockwave concentrates its energy on one small point deep in the tissue, while radial shockwave spreads out from the skin's surface and weakens the deeper it goes. Unfocused waves like SoftWave's fall in between: they cover a broader area of tissue at once instead of converging on a single spot.

    Our Approach

    • Evaluation to confirm SoftWave is appropriate for your condition
    • Targeted acoustic-wave sessions, typically minutes long
    • Integration with adjustments and laser for a complete plan
    • Progress checks so you always know if it's working

    The evidence

What the Research Says About Shockwave Therapy

SoftWave belongs to a treatment class — extracorporeal shockwave therapy — with a genuinely large research base: thousands of patients across dozens of randomized controlled trials, plus laboratory work explaining how acoustic energy triggers repair.

Honest context: most of this research studies shockwave therapy as a category — focused and radial devices from several manufacturers — rather than the specific SoftWave unit in our New Rochelle office. SoftWave's own FDA clearances cover local blood circulation, minor aches and pains, connective-tissue activation, diabetic foot ulcers and second-degree burns; the widely-used phrase 'stem cell therapy' describes the biological mechanism researchers have documented, not an injection or an approved indication.

    Frequently Asked Questions

No — nothing is injected or removed. SoftWave uses acoustic energy to stimulate your body's own healing response. It's non-invasive, done in-office, and requires no downtime.

SoftWave is one type of shockwave therapy. Shockwave therapy (extracorporeal shockwave therapy, or ESWT) is the overall category; SoftWave TRT is an unfocused form of it, delivered with the OrthoGold 100 device.

Research shows acoustic waves stimulate the body's own repair response, including resident stem and progenitor cells, in lab and animal studies. SoftWave is not a stem cell injection: nothing is injected or removed. Its FDA clearances are for the temporary increase in local blood circulation, relief of minor aches and pains, and activation of connective tissue; treatment of diabetic foot ulcers; and treatment of superficial partial-thickness second-degree burns in adults.

Most patients describe it as a tapping or pulsing sensation. Treatment over an injured area can be briefly tender, but there's no anesthesia and no downtime, and sessions take only a few minutes per area.
